"Queen" Maxima's Tiaras

I am freaking out! I went onto my Tumblr, I have Tumblr - right here. Anyways, someone posted: "What I just realized: When Maxima becomes queen she will probably have access to even more tiaras and jewels!!!!!!" Then, a gif of Tina Fey. I couldn't agree with you more! So, today is the day: To show tiaras Maxima has worn. Tiara Time!

  1. Rose Cut Diamond Bandeau Tiara
  2. Ruby Peacock Motif Tiara
  3. Mellerio Ruby Tiara
  4. Diamond Festoon Tiara
  5. Aquamarine Parure Tiara
  6. Mellerio Sapphire Tiara, diamond setting
  7. Emerald Tiara, with pearls
  8. Emerald Tiara
  9. Pearl Button Tiara
  10. Pearl Button Tiara, topped with Queen Emma's Diamond Stars
  11. Antique Pearl Tiara, without pearls
  12. Antique Pearl Tiara, with pearls
  13. Queen Wilhelmina's Diamond Haircomb
  14. Mellerio Sapphire Tiara
  15. Queen Emma's Diamond Tiara
Princess Maxima always surprises me! You never know what tiara she'll pick because the picks aren't limited. As you can tell from the list. Even on Maxima (with her mother-in-law, Beatrix and Prince Willem-Alexander)'s trip to Singapore and Brunei (I think). Maxima added two tiaras to the list! Queen Wilhelmina's Diamond Haircomb (#13), which she has worn in her hair, like behind her hair. And, the Pearl Button Tiara, but she's worn the structure, just not the pearls (#9, #10).

The Life Of: Queen Beatrix

Since, Queen Beatrix announced she would abdicate in favour of her son, Willem-Alexander. I decided to look back at the good (and bad) times that Beatrix has spent.
Beatrix in February 2012

Beatrix was born the eldest of four daughters to Princess Juliana of the Netherlands (later, Queen Juliana of the Netherlands (d. 2004)) and Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld (d. 2004). She was born on January 32, 1938. (She's set to celebrate her 75th birthday later this year - she has the same birthday as my aunt!) She was born at Sestdijk Palace in Baarn, Netherlands. She was baptized on May 12, 1938 at the Great Church in The Hague. Her full name is: Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard.

When Beatrix was a year old, in 1939, her first younger sister, Princess Irene was born. World War II broke out in the Netherlands on May 10, 1940. Three days later, the Dutch Royal Famuly evacuated to London, England. A month later, Beatrix, Juliana, and Irene went to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. While, her father, and maternal grandmother, Wilhelmina stayed in London.

Beatrix's second sister, Margriet was born in Ottawa in 1943. Beatrix attended nursery and primary school at Rockcliffe Park Public School. Wouldn't it be cool to say, "Ya, I went to school with the Queen of the Netherlands, no biggy." Well, I guess no one would say that, mainly because they're old and they don't use slang. That would be cool though!

Anyways, on Mary 5, 1945 the German troops in the Netherlands surrendered. The family became one again when they returned on August 2, 1945. Her third sister, Christina was born in 1947. A year later, on September 6, 1948, her mother succeeded her grandmother, Wilhelmina as Queen. At the age of 10, Beatrix became the heiress presumptive. It's very similar to Catharina-Amalia, she'll be the heiress presumptive on April 30th, when her father takes the throne. However, he will be 9, not 10.

So, I skipped the education section on Wikipedia, I decided not to skip the Education section. Beatrix in 1956 celebrated her 18th birthday, her mother installed her in the Council of State. The same year, Beatrix began university at the Leiden University. She studided (in her first years) sociology, jurisprudence, economics, parliamentary history, and consitutional law. She also went to various European and international organisations. She obtained her law degree in July of 1961.

So, now we're back to the section I really wanted to do! Beatrix's marriage! So, I didn't know this, but, when Beatrix married Claus von Amsberg, it was very contriversal! It was due to the fact that he was an German aristocrat, and had served in the Hitler Youth, which associated him with German Nazism. Well, the wedding wasn't a package of chocolates (What?). After they married, a smoke bomb was thrown at the carraige, with started a violent street battle with police.

It's very funny now, because when Claus died in 2002 (R.I.P.), he was one of the favourited member of the Dutch Royal Family!

Beatrix started her reign on April 20th of 1980 after her mother, Juliana abdicated. Beatrix had very hard years between 2002 and 2004. Well, the marriage of her eldest son, Willem-Alexander to Maxima Zorreguieta Cerruti was a happy moment. The thing was, her husband, Claus, died after a long illness. Her mother died after she suffered from senile dementia (R.I.P.) in 2004 and her father died in December of 2004 (R.I.P.).

This isn't a part that makes me happy, it brings me very down. On April 30, 2009, there was an asasination attempt created by Karst Roeland Tates. He was driving at high speed, as he drove through people, watching the parade. He missed the Royal Family and crashed into a monument on the side of the road. There were 8 deaths (including Karst) and 10 injured.

Then, today, the day that Beatrix abdicated. We already discussed this, look here, to read it again.

I also forgot to mention her children, I'm smart... Her son, Prince Willem-Alexander was born on April 27, 1967 and married Maxima Zorreguieta Cerruti on February 2nd, 2002. They have 3 children: Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane.

Her second son, Prince Friso was born on September 25, 1968 and married Mabel Wisse Smit on April 24, 2004 which costed him the throne. They have 2 children: Countess Luana, and Countess Zaria. Friso was in an avalanche last year (in February - it's been so long, but felt so short!). He's currently in England, and has been showing some signs of consiousness.

Her third son, Prince Constantijn was born on October 11, 1969. He married Laurentien Brinkhorst on Mary 19, 2001 and they have 3 children: Countess Eloise, Count Calus-Casimir, and Countess Leonore.

Queen Beatrix Abdicates! Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima Take The Throne!

Today, Queen Beatrix announced that after almost 33 years on the Dutch throne, she decided to abdicate the throne. She'll abdicate on April 30th, which is Koninginnedag (Queens Day), which is the day that Beatrix's mother, Juliana, gave her the throne back in 1980.

Koninginnedag will be switched to the name: Koningsdag, meaning King's Day. That's because Willem-Alexander was born into the Royal Family, making him the Royal Blood. So, he'll be the regining monarch. It will also be changed to April 27th (Willem-Alexander's actual birthday).

Abdication is nothing new to the Dutch, Luxembourgish, and Lichenstein Royal Families. It's just always a surprise when it happens. Although, many people did guess that it would the 30th of April.

Willem-Alexander will take the title: "His Majesty The King of The Netherlands". He will not be known as Willem IV as most people expected. He'll be known as: Willem-Alexander. When Maxima becomes Queen, she'll take the title: "Her Majesty The Queen of The Netherlands".

I myself was very surprised that Beatrix abdicated! Yes, she's 74 but she could still have a few more sturdy years! Speaking about Beatrix, when Willem-Alexander and Maxima take the throne, Beatrix will become: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, etc.". Of course, the etc. won't be implied.

This is just going to be awkward! Maxima is become QUEEN Maxima, Willem-Alexander is becoming KING Willem-Alexander, Beatrix is becoming PRINCESS Beatrix. Then, there's Catharina-Amalia, who's going to become Catharina-Amalia, PRINCESS OF ORANGE! This is screwing with my head already!

40th Birthday Photos of the Royal Women

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark - February 5, 2012

Mary celebrated her 40th birthday last year on February 5. She got pictures of herself, and just herself. Well, her dog did make an appearance. I must say that the pink blouse looks great on her, and her office looks awesome... love the chairs.

Princess Mathilde, Duchess of Brabant - January 20, 2013

Mathilde celebrated her birthday not that long ago. She chose to pose with her husband, Philippe, by herself and with her children, Elisabeth, Gabriel, Emmanuel, and ElĂ©nore. I love the earrings, and the clothing isn't all that bad.

Letizia, Princess of Asturias - September 15, 2012

Letizia celebrated her birthday last year in September - the 15th to be exact. She took pictures with her husband, Felipe. As well with her two daughters, Leonor, and Sofia.

Princess Maxima of the Netherlands - May 17, 2011

Princess Maxima celebrated her 40th birthday in May of 2011. Maxima was praised for her tiara shot (above, left) and her dress. These pictures capture the pure essence of Maxima's beauty.

Royal Fashion: Twins!

Princess Maxima of the Netherlands started her two day tour with her husband, Willem-Alexander and she wore a dress that looked a lot like a dress that Princess Claire of Belgium has worn. So, it's Royal Twinsies time!
(Princess Maxima in Brunai; Princess Claire at the Pre-Wedding Dinner of Princess Stephanie & Prince Guillaume)
See, wasn't I right? These dresses look so much alike! They are totally the same dress! They both look stunning in them though.

(Crown Princess Mary at the Christening of her niece, Princess Athena; Pippa Middleton at Wimbledon)
Crown Princess Mary wore this Project D dress to the christening of her niece, Athena in May of 2012. Pippa Middleton (younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge) wore this dress to Wombledon with her sister.

(Princess Alexandra at the Ruby Jubilee of her aunt, Queen Margrethe; Duchess of Cambridge at a Gala to support Team Great Britain)
At first, I thought that the dress looked nice on Alexandra. Then, I saw it on Catherine, and I didn't even remember that Alexandra wore the same dress but in red. The Jenny Packham dress looks good on both royal women.

(Princess Madeleine in her enagement photos; Princess Letizia in her 40th birthday pictures)
I was looking through portraits of the ladies, to see if there are any dresses that are alike. I looked and stared at Madeleine's green dress, a dress that I love. I looked at Letizia's dress and a bing went off. Maybe, it's not the same Alberta Ferrari dress, but it's similar.

Royals Love: Elie Saab

Elie Saab is an incredible fashion brand, created by a Lebanese designer. It's praised by many people around the world (including me) for the embroidery, designs, and cut of the dresses. Elie is an impedible designer, and his work is loved by many royals:
On October 20th of 2012, Elie created the wedding dress of Stephanie, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Luxembourg (formerly, Countess Stephanie de Lannoy). The wedding guests wore a lot of amounts of Elie Saab (probably due to the fact that the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg is a big fan).

Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden is a very big Elie Saab fan, she wore a dress by Elie (above) to her pre-wedding concert on June 18, 2010. Victoria wore Elie Saab to other important events, the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Monaco, the Nobel Prize Awards last year and in 2010, her daugther's christening in May of last year.

Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg is a big fan, like Victoria. She's worn Saab at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the wedding of her son, Guillaume (above, Civic service), a visit to Germany, and to the Nobel Prize awards in 2011 (same dress, different occasion).

After the royal wedding in Luxembourg, the Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor showed different royals who wore Elie Saab and it looks awesome!

Two Royal Birthdays!

Today is the 48th birthday of Sophie, Countess of Wessex (Great Britain) and the 40th birthday of Princess Mathilde, Duchess of Brabant (Belgium).
Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones was born on January 20, 1965 to Christopher and Mary (nee O'Sullivan). Sophie has an older brother, David. Sophie met her husband, the Earl of Wessex in 1993, at a tennis charity event, when his tennis partner didn't come. Their relationship started soon afterwards. Their engagement was offically announced on January 6, 1999. They married on June 19, 1999 at  St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.
In December of 2001, Sophie was taken to the hospital after saying she didn't feel well. It was discovered she was suffereing from a ptentially life-threatening ectopic pregnancy. Two years later, she had a daughter, Lady Louise Windsor (b. November 8, 2003). Louise was a premature baby, resulting from a sudden placental abruption, Sophie had to undergo an emergancy caesarean section. Sophie had another child, James, Viscount Severn (b. December 17, 2007) and had to have another caesarean section.
Now, Sophie fufills a bunch of engagements, making her one of my favourite royals of 2012. She's very close to her mother-in-law (Queen Elizabeth). It's said to be the Queen's first permanently warm relationship with one of her children-in-laws.

Mathilde was born on January 20, 1973 to Count Patrick d'Udekem d'Acoz and Countess Anna Maria Komorowska. Mathilde married her husband, Prince Philippe on December 4, 1999. They have 4 children together, Princess Elisabeth (the future queen of Belgium (b. October 25, 2001)), Prince Gabriel (b. August 20, 2003), Prince Emmanuel (b. October 4, 2005), and Princess Eleonore (b. April 16, 2008).

Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice of York in Germany

Princess sisters, Beatrice and Eugenie of York took a two day tour of Germany. They visited to promote the Great Campaign a global initative to attract visitors, business, and students to the United Kingdom. Beatrice made a lovely speech as well.
Both Beatrice and Eugenie were praised for their choice of outfits. I must say, Beatrice looks spectacular in that green dress!
The same day, in the evening, they had a dinner (I think - I'm not good with the information). Beatrice wore a repeat Erdem dress that she wore last year which I really loved.

The next day, Beatrice and Eugenie went to Hanover, Germany. They visited a kindergarten (I'm very sure), where this cute picture was taken:
